#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Hello May. I started the day, early, so organized and ready to host my Wednesday morning writers, the ones who come in person. Had my prompt material printed and coffee setup and group room ready to go. Ahead of the game, despite yesterday’s involvement with the grandmother writing workshop. My phone camera still not well––I just let it go and accept I may have to travel Thursday without a working camera as I have no time to figure out a trip to Apple or wherever. And then I take Charlie after saying goodbye to Wave who is enjoying the homemade scone with jam I have given him for breakfast with his health shake. I try to think about what the brook is telling me about the dunking of my phone and the fogging of my camera. I keep my mind open to new possibilities. And take my walk, no pictures, but I did see a funny, interesting thing––I saw in the river a small animal swimming, it was bright, florescent green! Strange, how could it be a bright green animal? And as it drew closer, I found it wasn’t as exotic as I’d hoped. Just a muskrat who had swum through some bright green algae on his way home and he was wearing it as a flashy coat. After my swim, my timing is ruined. My phone is truly broken, I discover. The charger port is unworkable. And I have only a little battery left. I won’t be able to recharge it. I surrender to needing a new phone and have to figure out how to fix it. And then everyone coming in person cancels, all will be online, and that’s okay. I make it to group on time, and the writing is inspirational. I will have to go to AT&T and get a phone in the short amount of time I have in the afternoon that I wanted to use for bills and packing. After my Israeli support group, I go. And tonight, I am hugely grateful to have a working phone. A small miracle of modern technology and a trip to the mall. I am packed. The plants are watered. Bills are paid. House is quiet, Wave away for the night. And today another one of my images is published on the cover of a lit mag and it looks terrific.
