#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Ice abstract

So much sunshine, I see Wave squinting in my bedroom this morning. The light pours in. He is staying home from school for a doctor’s appointment, so there is relaxation with dipping eggs in bed. I go off for my swim, then my walk in the wetlands with Charlie. Last night, late, I drafted a new poem so I could have something for workshop. Liked it well enough as a first draft. Woke early, gave it a second draft and sent it off. Revised it after group and workshopped it again tonight. A busy day with prep for groups tomorrow and going out of town Wednesday. Frank cooked dinner and it was delicious! So glad he’s home! Just before dinner, while I knew my son was in his winter tent with his client, I saw this headline in the New York Times about therapists turning to the great outdoors with clients. Sent the article off to my son––who seems to be ahead of the curve. I had to leave the dinner table a little early tonight, and felt a pull, but was glad I had my poetry time. I know this week I will be missed. Not just for all I do, but for my company. And for that I am grateful.

Therapists Trade the Couch for the Great Outdoors

Mental health practitioners are hiking, camping and braving the elements with their clients — all in an effort to help them connect with the Earth, and with themselves.
