#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Floating

My earliest walk––out the door by 6:00 a.m. Down the road, first person I see is our friend, Victor, who works at the resort I pass by and he is out already leading a birding walk with a pair of guests. Sweet of him to go out dancing last night with us considering how early he had to be at work. I give him a hug, and head down the dirt path to Playa Pelada. Where everything is lovely and morning fresh. I sit in a couple of tidepools this morning, just appreciating this special place more and more. My daughter loves it too. I know we will keep coming back to Nosara. We are winding down, pleasantly. I got to talk to my grandson today which was a delightful treat. Knowing he misses us. Still not understanding why we would be away so long. Tomorrow my images and interview with Synkroniciti’s editor, Katherine McDaniel will be published and I had to go over the proofs. She’s done such a nice job on this. I worked a bit on a revision of a poem but got interrupted by everyone being back and just wanting to enjoy some time to chat and loll in the pool in the sun. We had a lovely dinner tonight, a long one, and I read my poem, “Beach of Hvar with Po,” explaining that this poem came from two trips we took together a year ago, here to Nosara, where Po had the dream featured in the poem, and then to Croatia, where we did our ritual on the beach that’s captured in the poem. It was very sweet, how much they appreciated it, and how special it was to share this poem with Po beside me at the table, and Geoff, hearing it for the first time. I had trusted for the perfect moment. And it happened. Very sweet. After dinner we had dessert casually in another section of the resort we were visiting and there was a floating ledge with a net over––nothing! We relaxed under the stars and planets shining above us.
