#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Entrance to our casa

Everything that could fit into this day fit into this day, this lovely day. And it’s late, but I want to capture a little. Of course, my walk! So windy, the sea! Windiest day yet, spraying the waves and bothering the surfers. We went out for a fancy breakfast at a favorite spot with a view to Playa Pelada. Yummy, indulgent. Naps! Pool, and I started a few notes on a new poem for tomorrow, determined to somehow get it written. We were invited by a lovely woman, a native Costa Rican who manages the casa we rent, to come to her aunt’s house so that we could sample a traditional dish that her aunt makes and is teaching her to make. Possibly tomorrow I will have time to share some video we took of this process of making chicken and maiz, a tradtional dish. Cooked in the back yard over an open fire in a wonderful, huge metal pot. . . it was so special to be invited into their home for this home cooking. Tonight, wrote a very first draft of a poem for tomorrow, here, in the open air, in the dark, by the pool, in a cool evening breeze. I’m the last one to bed, instead of the first! I am very much missing the boy at home, and had a chance to facetime and he is missing us, and, in his own words, my daughter says, he is crying, not for sadness, but for happiness that we are here with our friends.
