Farm Pond, Super Moon

Being outdoors this afternoon was blissful. Cool and bright. After baking my double batch of Aunt Virginia’s Blue Ribbon Molasses Cookies, I boxed them for delivery. Three recipients in need: a post-funeral pick-me-up for a friend; a pick-me-up for a stressed friend; and a post-delivery retreat for a new mother and her family. Done! Then I packed two cookies for Wave and picked him up from school. He was quite happy with the cookies, and we drove to Broadmoor Wildlife Center for a hike, and met my daughter, Franci there as well. The three of us had a great hike, and we took turns having Wave on our backs as he grew tired. He decided, as we passed the Charles River dam and waterfall in South Natick on our way to the hike that he wants to rename the Charles River. To what? “Grammy’s River,” he said, and that’s just fine with me. I drove by Farm Pond on the way home and we caught sight of the super moon. I stopped and we ran to the boat ramp to see the moonrise. He said it was going to be way too beautiful for me to see, and he was right. The sun sinking, the moon rising, the water growing pink and the ducks flapping and skimming.
