#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Rain! Soft and even somewhat warm. I woke a little late; Frank left early for his meeting and then his flight. My day all my own. More revisions of my poem. Sent off tonight, after three title changes; a radical revision. Workshop tomorrow. Everything dripped. Rain spiraled the river. I listened to a fascinating short story the whole walk, and it was a long one: Joshua Cohen’s “My Camp,” about events following the October 7, attack by Hamas on Israel, and that makes the story sound super serious, but it’s actually funny and profound and completely absorbing. I bought six tropical plants for indoors in the sunny room where they will be tropically warm and winter-cheerful. I made a lovely dinner and we ate by the fire. The rain is raining still and the windows are closed and it’s a cozy night in New England with Halloween approaching.
