#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

All night the wind whistled through the palms. We are on the sixth floor of this building. Up early and out in the still dark morning to Starbucks, and the palms were swaying fiercely under the blue-black sky. When it was light I headed to the beach. The windsurfers were on the waves––it was delightful to watch them suddenly ascend and seem to fly. This whole trip has been so pleasantly paced and restful, despite the mostly cloudy skies and wind and some rain. Frank and I have been very happy with our combinations of play and rest. I have not swum. I have not even walked that much. I have written poems and held some groups and meetings and had some phone calls and been in some workshops, but not under any pressure. All pleasure. I met a person on the beach today and he inspired me to write a poem and I had the freedom and time and energy to go right to the coffee shop and write it. And I had a session with my poetry mentor for my manuscript, and this was just what I needed to bridge the last few weeks and feel refreshed toward it in this new year with some goals. Tonight restarted my Tuesday night writers. Tomorrow we depart here early. Homeward bound.
