#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

In the wetlands of late January

Last day of January! Cold and dry, ice on the driveway. I hit snooze and snooze and snooze. Finally force myself up. In the pool I don’t feel tired, and I have a great swim. Then a walk in the wetlands with fresh ice. But I am quite tired tonight. My day of three groups; I love my groups and the day goes by so quickly. Ever group rich and rewarding. Then downstairs to whip up some dinner while my daughter has been watching her nephew. Rice bowls with shrimp and vegetables. Wave is very active, very playful, very cheerful. We are all tired tonight! Except him, of course. Last night he came in after I had blogged, after I had dozed into sleep. I heard feed padding on the tile floor of my bathroom. Who’s there? He was in the pitch dark. Wanting to see if I was awake. Sensing, of course, that I wasn’t. I guessed his mother had fallen asleep before him. He wanted to play dinosaurs, of course. I had to agree, or I knew getting him back to bed would be a challenge. So, I said yes, and he was quite surprised and happy and joked––”don’t wake up Papa!” And we laughed, because Papa is still away on his trip, of course. Finally, I got him to go to bed. That’s why I had to hit snooze so many times. There is an owl, or more than one, in the trees of the yard tonight. It’s very noisy and enchanting in the most lovely way. Hooting, wide awake, like Wave.
