#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.”
― Martha Graham

The sun was so bright in my room, to my relief, this morning. Smashingly bright. I didn’t swim, as I worked on some poems early before going out. Then I wanted to be out in the sunlight. Glittering snow and river. Ice under my feet. The wetlands frozen now. [Will start to thaw tomorrow!] Charlie and I had a good long walk and I had dressed warmly. I took this photo by the Charles River where one of the benches sat in the sunlight casting shadows. As a friend commented on it––looks like a woodblock print, and that’s exactly what I thought. The sweetest afternoon. My youngest hosted one of her closest friends from growing up for a tea party to celebrate the friends’ engagement. She turned the dining room into gorgeous setting for tea with fresh flowers, and my crystal and china and table cloths. And the fire and candles lit, and lots of treats. And I was upstairs after saying hello, loving listening to their laughter drifting up the stairs. Ah! These little girls getting married. My goodness. I got poems tweaked today, and I had some sweet news from a literary journal––i won the cover contest, and one of my ice images will be on the cover. I am very pleased. Then I helped my daughter clean up from her party and we chatted, like old times, in the kitchen with her engaged friend, and then I made a nice dinner for the family and another guest. Wave home. All the happiness of his return. We all watched a movie with him tonight There was “yoga.” And now, to sleep.
