#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Yikes––snow, rain, ice. A very wintry day to wake into. And happy to make dipping eggs for the boy. He is happy to receive them. I walk, first, with Charlie, in the flooded wetlands, into the peaceful woods. The tent is unreachable at the moment. The river is lake-like. After my walk I swim. Then work on my manuscript and prepare for some other things. A day when the most fun happens at night. After dinner, made by me and Frank, together, and the family together at the table, we all go out into the dark, cold, icy-snow evening. Wave leads the way. There’s a sled and a gentle slope to ride into the yard. It’s our first sledding of the year. The moon is out in a fogged sky. Everyone has multiple turns. Wave is happy giving the pushes and chasing the fast-moving sled. And finally, is wiling to go down by himself. This has been a long warm-up to sledding for him. After, we’re inside, and Papa says to him, great job going on the sled, and Wave asks, did you see me? Indeed, Papa did. We all did. A splendid winter night.
