#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Instead of a walk, a spontaneous family bike ride into Edgartown. Frank and I reminded of the young parenting years, trying to corral kids with my sisters and brothers for rides with our own young children. The sun is bright in the afternoon and we go to Long Point beach at West Tisbury Great Pond where the “cut” is open between the pond and the ocean and we get to ride in the current running swiftly between the two. A long walk back to the parking lot through thick sand in the late afternoon. The sweetest summer colors, blue sky and the green grass. I get a class description and a workshop proposal sent off early in the day. We are immersed in family time and spontaneity. A lovely dinner at home, easily prepared by me and Frank, after a day in the sun, and everyone is satisfied. The news of fires in Maui is horrifying. My daughter reminds me she and her boyfriend’s family were in Hawaii a year ago exactly. In other bad news: I had such a crush on Robbie Robertson in the mid-70’s! Rest in peace Robbie.
