#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Frank leaves early for his meeting and I get up to have a walk with Charlie in the neighborhood of Edgartown where we are staying. His energy is low today. He hates to be leashed and to walk on pavement. It’s cloudy and warm. Everyone gets up pretty early and we make a plan to take my grandson to the Farm Institute run by the Trustees of Reservations nearby. It’s a 25 minute walk and that’s the way we go: he runs virtually the whole way, and I run to keep up with him! We pass the Katama airport and go up the dirt driveway to the lovely farm. We have a tour of the barn, meet the goats and sheep, and get to go into the “Friendship Garden” where all the flowers and vegetables are growing. Sunflowers galore are planted in a field we go through for a hayride. It’s sprinkling throughout most of the morning, and we don’t mind. Frank joins us for the hay ride after tennis. I walk home and they ride. We are so happy to be in Edgartown, even though we were happy in Chilmark for years. So remote there, and loved by me and Frank for that reason. But now everything is so convenient, and we can bike again, which I did with my daughter and her boyfriend in the sprinkles and cloudiness. A lovely day; a bit of work done, but the house very lively and busy.
