#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
And the place
was water
Fish

flood
Water lily mud
My life
in the leaves and on water
~ Excerpt from “Paean to Place,” by Lorine Niedecker
The bursting and sunshine. Spring energy, spring cheer, spring spirit. Vitality and unearned joy. Even though there is a stomach bug in the house, and maybe it has your name on it. The view from the trestle bridge in three acts above. I listen to recordings of a podcast I return to again and again: Essential American Poets. So many to choose from, but this morning I want to listen, again, to Lorine Niedecker, even though the recording is subpar, and Jorie Graham. This puts me in a writing mood, and when I get indoors and sit down, I work on a piece that was started last week with four pages of single spaced text and I want to get it to be a poem in a page or less. I am successful: at least, get a working draft. It feels a bit like Russian Roulette: who is getting the bug next? Frank went to bed early. Possibly because he got up at 4:00 a.m.? Today I was entirely happy with my photos. They fed me good food.
