#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Oystercatcher, Playa Peladas

Up early, but Frank beats me out to the pool where we sit for coffee and talk. It’s not light out, and we are the first ones up. Soon the household awakens, and the tennis players ready and the walkers ready and we are out the door. It’s high tide, and the first thing we spot is a lovely oystercatcher. I take fewer photos when I am walking with others. We take a long walk, there are no tide pools for morning swim with the tide high. It’s hot, of course, we dip and walk to meet Frank and others for breakfast. None of us is in a rush. It’s Saturday relaxation, and we have a lovely, lingering breakfast in the heat. Overall, a quiet day by the pool. I do a little writing. I revise a poem for Monday workshop and jump in the pool and decide it’s just no good. I revise another poem and think this one has a bit of promise. I was pleased to find out yesterday that three of my photos from my winter walks on the Charles River this year were selected for the upcoming “Wild” issue of Synkroniciti Journal. The issue will be published in March. I loved taking these photos of the frozen brook and I’m so glad they’ve found a home in print. Late afternoon, sunset swim with Liz and Po. We splish and splash and ride the waves and dodge the surfers and the soft water is so warm and inviting and we dive into the sur of the sun setting on the horizon, waves and froth going fiery orange and we scream and laugh and play like 10 year olds until the ball of sun is gone and sky starts to darken for end of day. We walk up the dirt road to meet Frank who will drive us back to our casa for dinner with take-out. I keep thinking I’ve had my best swim yet––and then I get an even better one. Best part of day: facetime with a special one who hopes we will come home “faster.”
