#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Morning Brook

I really appreciate this dedication to checking in on my day from my photo stream. This daily practice, this ritual. To look back on the photo I took as my feature. Sometimes it’s more than one. It’s always at least one. Today, the cold brook on the trail in Rocky Narrows where Charlie and I always stop. I see the lovely rocks and the clear water moving and rippling around them. A moment of peace before a busy day. I have also had my swim. My ritual of breathing, a delicious rhythm. All the laps adding up to me feeling strong and forceful. Today my Wednesday morning critique group, and the chance to look at craft and the development of writing. Then, the Israeli support group, and the chance to work expressively with the challenges of the stressful emotional effects of war. Dinner, a quiet one, with Frank by the fire, our deep conversation. Moving through the day, trying to be a good listener and a supportive talker. To think deeply. Tonight, facilitating, so happily, the Journal of Expressive Writing Open Mic and the opportunity to listen to and celebrate the poetry of Myra Shapiro. A treasure. And a delcious conversation with a poet and friend I deeply admire. The community of others, a great showing, and the open mic, a deep dive into more listening. Yes, I am tired tonight. And my spirit is filled.
