Wetlands

Bed was sooooo warm it was hard to get up into the cold house. Pressing through, hopeful that the electricity would be restored today. Got the boy out the door with pancakes made on the gas stove lit with a match. A great swim, and even though I was freezing when I got into the water I felt warm during my swim. By noon the electricity was restored! But then the heat wouldn’t go on. Within a few hours, the heat was finally fixed. And we rejoiced. And all got in the car to drive to Boylston to Tower Hill to see the holiday lights, an annual treat. We met Wave’s friends there and the kids made s’mores at the outdoor fire. It was a cheerful end to four days of power outage. Frank just said, “Is that thunder?” Yes! The river is so high, and the wetlands have not receded. Well, winter is here. The long night. Here is a carol for solstice that I found on Twitter. It’s good to be in bed with the heat on.
