#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

A perfect Sunday of activities. It’s good to drop into bed tired after a weekend! Today was very happy and very busy. A swim at the pool, practically the only one in pool, and my daughter went to swim soon after me and the lifeguard said the pool was closed for lack of chlorine???!!! Anyway, they let me swim! Then I took a hike around the woods with Wave and Charlie. We examined animal scat, looking for coyotes. Then, the excitement of Frank and Landon heading to the woods to put up the tent! I let Wave go off with them and had things to do for an impromptu early supper with friends. While I cooked turkey chili and prepped indoors, they were busy for hours in the yard clearing the spot, erecting the massive tent, and getting it almost done. The stove’s not in yet. Our pot luck with dear friends was festive and made more so by their son Connor coming with his guitar and singing for us after dinner. Wave was quite taken with him in his Western hat and faux leopard skin pants and jacket and hair longer than his shoulders. What a true delight of an evening indoors while the heavy rain came down. Frank was truly beat, after tennis and tent, but helped me clean up. Wave begged to go out in the rain to see the tent in the dark. My son and I agreed to take him. And it was our first chance to see it up in the dark under the trees. The rain made music on the canvas as we stood around in our socks inside and my son planned for the furnishings, which will be simple. What a dreamy place it would be to spend the night once the stove is in! I have heard again from the journal that accepted my three images. They will feature my tree trunk in snow on the cover and I am to contribute a short interview. I’m so glad they like my tree trunk. I drafted a new poem this a.m. and need to get it in for workshop tomorrow. Then, sleep!
