#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Walk, no swim. Wore hiking boots instead of sneakers in case my feet got wet. Quite cold. There is a bird that needs something at our window. For two days she has been knocking and knocking. It’s a robin. The window she knocks against is at the front of the house on the porch. She doesn’t hurt herself. She just keeps attacking the bird she saw once in window, she thinks it’s still there. And she has established her territory and will out this intruder. She doesn’t know the intruder is her mirror image, not a threat. Or, maybe a mirror image is a threat of sorts. Poor robin. Poor us who keep hearing her knocking and cannot answer. Today, I led my Charles River Writers critique group. Amazing writing. Just filled up with these women’s voices, stories, craft. In the late afternoon, I made a lentil soup and popovers. Tonight, quite tired. I imagine the robin is too.
