#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
In those first seconds of waking this morning I am disoriented. What day is this? I draw a blank. Then, sense comes. It’s Saturday. A wedding day for our dear friends. And the land outside is freshened by rain. I go out early with the Special One. We talk about the storm; how the lightning cracked the sky, the thunder rumbled, the rain whooshed. And the meadow is full of dripping webs. And the river has movement. There’s a sparkling of sun and a ripple of the surface. It’s alive again. I go for my swim. The sun is shining on the pond and the water is cool and sweet. I go for a good swim. Still trying to get back to my strong rhythm from before Martha’s Vineyard. It’s a busy day, a family day. Our whole family is going to the wedding, so there are outfits to put together and shopping to be done and cards to be written and dresses to be hemmed. . .it’s busy and fun and festive and tense at moments: will we all get there on time? And the wedding is fabulous fun, under a tent in a gorgeous yard and with delicious food. The ceremony, the marriage, takes place in front of a wonderful willow tree on a deep green lawn. And dancing! My legs and feet ache with pleasure and pain from the dancing! A highlight of this summer. A wedding to remember.
