#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Charles River

Some mornings it is wise to set an alarm. To have more of the day. And I did. Woke myself before 7:00. Frank up for a couple of hours already, on his birthday, running his weekly support group. Deliciously cool and bright. The bunnies have multiplied and become so tame they are approaching the front door! It’s Charlie, really, who is the tame one. No longer chasing the rabbits away. I take a long walk in the woods with my young passenger on my back. I think about how pleasant this time is, with the trees and the leaves and pine needles and the weeds and the birds and the streams and the river and the bees. Forest bathing. There’s a lot to sing about, and we do. A busy Sunday of July takes over, in many pleasant ways. A bridal shower for a dear young friend that is outdoors under the trees and elegant and intimate. The bride’s mother, my dear friend, invites the women of a certain age to share their wisdom. This turns into the most inspirational sharing! A late afternoon swim around the island from the beach; a family dinner on the deck with Frank, the birthday celebrant. All the kids home. Tonight, I am tired. And satisfied.
