#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School Presidential Professor Lisa Fairfax will have the honor and privilege of introducing her longtime friend and former roommate at the Senate confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court nomination of the Honorable Ketanji Brown Jackson. Brown Jackson currently serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and if confirmed, would be the first Black woman to serve as a justice on the country’s highest court.

Once again, Charlie patiently waits while I swim. Then, it’s his turn. We walk at Medfield State. I go into the wide open meadow, a meadow I love. Have not walked here in months. It’s winter worn, brown. No sign of spring––yet. But, here is a lucky feather in the grass and sun. At my desk, I work on my poem for tonight. In the afternoon, I turn on CNN briefly, just in time to hear the last moments of Professor Lisa Fairfax’s introduction of her dear friend, Ketanji Brown Jackson at the hearings for her confirmation. I immediately have goose bumps: a Black woman introducing another Black woman who has been nominated for the Supreme Court.
