#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

"A rainy day is the perfect time for a walk in the woods."

- Rachel Carson.

It’s a morning for a walk with my dear friend, and I take a swim before that. It’s a moist morning, there is no rain yet, but the blue of the sky foretells it. How good it is to listen and listen and let my friend fill me in on all that she is processing in her life. I take one picture, only, as I am feeling the woods, but not seeing the woods, I am involved with my friend. We pass the swamp and I notice the sky above the trees. Then, the rumble of thunder. Is it possible we will be caught in a dramatic storm? Poor Charlie. We keep walking and talking, not minding the growing thunder. And make it back home before the cloudburst and drenching that lasts most of the day. Still, it’s pleasantly warm. The house is quiet and I work at my desk. A rare moment of absolute quiet after the storm passes and I relax into it and focus into it and I have no distractions. I like certain distractions, of course. Another friend, far away, calls and I take that call. But, I get so much done! Caught up on my monologue course comments on writing and prepped for my Charles River Writers tomorrow. Still, I keep the windows open to the rain. My violet is in bloom in front of the open window. And, tonight, windows still open the lull of the rain. So many things out there still in bloom, still wanting water, and grateful for it. I put the new Anthony Doerr novel on my Audible wish list to purchase with a credit when one comes this month. And today heard a rave review by Maureen Corrigan on NPR. So, Cloud Cukoo Land, I will read you very soon.
