#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Sand Bar, Nantucket
“I think, sir, they have some such mild blue days, even as this, in Nantucket.”
― Herman Melville, Moby-Dick or, the Whale
Early rising, for a run in the fresh morning, before watering the vegetables and flowers. Then, to pick up my friend and drive to the Hyannis Ferry for a weekend at her house on Nantucket. Of course, the ride flew, we were there in a blink with so much talking and no traffic. And Frank flew from his business trip and arrived on the island within minutes of me. I have been waiting for this perfect weather of summer, and here it was, this afternoon, on Steps Beach with dear friends and a salty swim and a beach nap. The moon, tonight, at dinner on the beach, was a great spectacle shining over a most lovely day. I left for Nantucket just as my youngest was starting her biggest swim yet–around the perimeter of Farm Pond. Which I learned, in a text, she completed. Next week I hope to take a long swim with her.
