#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

My first milkweed pods

Sun, sun, sun, the whole day sun. Summer returns. The river is still quite high. And all the trails still blocked. And the water has nowhere to go. It’s stagnant in the heat. I decide not to wade through today and take a trail where I won’t get wet, but it doesn’t get me far. But I want to be on my bike today for the first time, and I take a short ride in the sunshine before my poetry workshop. I take my revision, and get helpful feedback; but I’m feeling a bit stuck between the first version and this one. It will advance, I need to put it away for a bit. In the afternoon I take a longer bike ride on the leafy streets and also a short swim at Farm Pond on my bike. For the first time my milkweed plants in my garden have pods! And there’s a heart eggplant on the vine! But some of my heirloom tomatoes are rotting. Good news, bad news, the butternut squash are coming up healthy and the cucumbers are in blossom. All the soil of all the plants is still quite wet.
