Fireflies tonight after dark on my hot walk. Peaceful and a light breeze, welcome. Almost some rain, and there was some far off thunder, but really, it was a dry day with magnificent clouds over the river tonight. I love summer so much, even this heat. Today I had a sudden realization: I have not planted any butternut squash! How could I have forgotten? In the late afternoon I drove out to two stores to find some seeds. After dinner, I went with my daughter to the garden and prepared some soil in three boxes where nothing was yet growing, and I planted my squash seeds, hoping it’s not too late. Everything got water this morning. I watered for my walk today. Late in the day a freshening swim. And some of the poems from letters revised. And my husband home.
