#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

A light snow on the deck and the yard in the early light of Christmas Eve morning. And a bright and busy day ahead. Who ever knows, when a day starts, how it will end? I walk, with the special one, a light snow falling. We do not go far before he is asleep. It will be a day of non-stop, but happy, activity. Everything gets done! Presents all wrapped and three batches of cookies as gifts for friends––done! And Frank picks up the prime rib for tomorrow’s meal and cookies to friends and neighbors dropped, and then the arrival of dear friends for our annual Christmas Eve Thai food dinner, gifts, and a slide show of our upcoming trip to Costa Rica in February, and a fire warming the room and a Christmas movie. Such relaxation and cozy happiness. We wish them goodnight; Frank goes to bed exhausted. He has helped to clean up, and I cheerfully stay up to do the rest, I have a third wind and want to leave everything just right and ready for Christmas morning. But the fire alarm goes off! We check, and it must be my daughter’s incense. Frank goes back to bed, I go back to clean-up and then he is yelling down the stairs, we have a fire, and call 911 and I do. Everyone and Suzi and Charlire safely out of the house into the cold yard and the they were here in a matter of three minutes, I think, and there was fire in our bedroom attic, and they did an amazing job and got it out. Water damage, yes, and some holes in the walls and ceiling and we are safe. Our Christmas Eve with our dear friends did not end when they left. I am in a bed at their house, waiting for Frank to finish with the firefighters and join me. Dogs, daughter, son, special one, all safe. House will be fine. We will know more tomorrow about when we can return. And Christmas is a miracle this year.
