December Merry

. . . I am letting this room

and everything in it

stand for my ideas about love

and its difficulties. . .

~ Excerpt from, This Room and Everything in It by LI-YOUNG LEE

Such a rose light filling the sky, early rising. I went out early for a run. First, straightened the lights Frank strung on the little tree in the yard. Couldn’t tell if they were better, until tonight, after dark. Yes. I am satisfied. Better. And then I ran six miles; I should say “jogged,” I did not go fast. Suzi came for a bit and then I made her go in and Charlie came the rest of the way through the woods. Crisp and dry, the fallen leaves. Frank left before light. I got to my desk and prepared for my Charles River Writers tomorrow, among other things. Back on Zoom for the time being for the safety of all. Ah, food shopping. I bought flowers, too, for my Christmas arrangements I will make tomorrow. I am so sleepy tonight, all the activity of home catching up with me. And, still, my meditation waits. A sweet talk with my youngest before bed: her feeling positive about her internship in drama therapy and getting positive reviews. This really is another holiday of the pandemic and its risks. I want to be at peace with that and meet the uncertainties with patience.
