#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

I feel very strongly that I am under the influence of things or questions which were left incomplete by my parents and grandparents and ancestors. It often seems as if there were a personal karma within a family which is passed on from parents and children.

~ Carl G. Jung, “Memories Dreams and Reflections”

A surprise warming and temperatures rising to 70 degrees in the afternoon. In the morning, after some housework I do on Thursdays, I went out with the dogs for a ramble before a swim, listening on Audible to the Jung’s Memories Dreams and Reflections. Took a lot of pictures, but this one of the lichen on rock is the one I liked. Didn’t know why, exactly. Later, writing my monthly newsletter, (you can subscribe here and I’ll send it) I wrote about how this picture reminded me of being, last night, cozy in bed with Frank. My friend Jenny, during the week after our Monday workshop gave me some helpful thoughts about a new poem. I brought that to a different workshop this afternoon and it’s working very well and got a few more helpful comments. The poem I have been trying to “solve,” a different one, has a new version to test drive soon. An advanced reader’s copy of a friend’s memoir arrived today and I’m looking forward to reading it. Also arrived today, “The Long-Legged House,” by Wendell Berry. So many good things to read piling up by my bed. And lined up in audible after the Jung, Generations, a new memoir by Lucille Clifton. A friend tells me there is a lunar eclipse in the early morning tomorrow, 4:03 in New England.

Overnight, the moon will pass into the shadow of Earth cast by the sun, illuminating the gray orb with a red hue. It will be the second and final eclipse of the year.
