Sunflower garden

Dragonfly Frost

. . . So here's an end of roaming
  On eves when autumn nighs:
The ear too fondly listens
  For summer's parting sighs,
  And then the heart replies.

~ Excerpt from “When summer's end is nighing,” by AE Housman

Early out toward the still fresh, towering sunflowers, to greet them this morning while they’re still here, and passed a flash of frosted beauty in the tall grass of the meadow: a dragonfly, holding all the poignancy of this last day of summer. June, July, endless and yet ended, July, and August, and more than half of this September too. Thank you, summer. I walked up the steep hill three times with Charlie, and a quick swim, and a busy day. Preparing, today, for my six weeks How Pictures Heal webinar. And reaching out to poet Luci Tapahonso to firm up details for her IWWG Open Mic feature on Thursday. And, quickly, writing a poem from a letter to take to workshop tonight. Which worked and was received well. The start of a busy, creative week. I am grateful to the frosted dragonfly, for catching eye, and saying goodbye.
