Trail puddles

Charlie and I eagerly soaked and splashed through the puddles on the trail. No bike this morning, just splat splat splat. Watching raindrops land in puddles, turn into bubbles. It was messy and unclean, fresh and wholesome. We walked through the forest, bathing, until the dock. Where it was only me and Charlie and the morning rain. I jumped right in, swam around the island. So few swimmers out this morning. I did not linger on the dock, but rain home with energy and lightness. There come summer days like this, drenching ones, where nothing matters but getting wet as I want, who cares? A summer day to seize. I think about how fortunate I am, to have access to such a fabulous experience. There’s no good reason to hesitate, to miss it, to say no, instead of yes.
