#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Evening Charles River: Blues and Greens

“In the morning there is meaning, in the evening there is feeling.”

― Gertrude Stein

A day off from our daily workout, so I stay up late watching my new favorite TV series, The Bureau. I wake late into the heat of this blistering and bright gorgeous day. I take my time. I sit down a bit blankly, what will I write about for my weekly Aim for Astonishing e-mail prompt? Soon enough, I have an idea and I write a perfect July prompt for Loafing. (Want this prompt? I’ll send it to you.) Then, instead of loafing, I go out and weed and water in the hot sun for a couple of hours instead of taking my daily walk. This makes me happy, clearing out weeds. It’s a dry, dry day, and I know my flowers and bushes, especially the hydrangea, are happy to their roots for a drink. Where does this day go? Getting up late shortens the day. My daughter helps me make pizzas for dinner, our favorite, with roasted buttternut squash. I don’t have time to sit and eat, though, because I am running the IWWG Open Mic with poet Krysten Hill and I need to be ready. But first, I squeeze a quick walk out to the river in. And I am hugely rewarded. These are my absolute favorite summertime shades of blue and green, and they are blending in the most enlivening and gorgeous way. Now, I am wide awake and full of energy and sunny enthusiasm. I am infused with blue/green joy. The evening is so full, so rich, with Krysten, gorgeous in pink and bringing so much personality and emotion and drama into her performance of her poems. Then, the open mic. A juicy evening, all online. Yes, I love the Gertrude Stein quote about morning and evening. I am feeling so grateful tonight.
