#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Orange is red brought nearer to humanity by yellow. ~ Wassily Kandinsky
“The moon and sun are eternal travelers. Even the years wander on. A lifetime adrift in a boat or in old age leading a tired horse into the years, every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.” ~ Matsuo Bashō, Narrow Road to the Interior
“We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right.”
~ Martin Luther King Jr.
I went out into the flood of orange, above, below. I walked South, into the sun rising, in an immersion of orange. It was cool, I wore layers, long pants. And I walked for a long time at the edge of the surf. I wanted to find – hoped to find the mailbox in the dunes that I found on one of my first days here a year ago. After three miles of walking I saw it, bright white with a red flag and no address sitting in the grassy sand overlooking the Gulf. This is an enchanting place and I have arrived. I find a sandman in the shape of a gingerbread man, shaped by shells, he is still celebrating the old year. Perhaps soon a storm will blow him into 2020 with the rest of us. Until then, he seems very happy living in the past. Indoors, I wrote and sent my weekly Aim for Astonishing writing prompt and prepared for my happily busy week of teaching ahead.
