#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Tree bark eart

Just as it does every day, my morning walk in nature fortified me brilliantly for the day ahead. My husband failed a stress test yesterday and needed a stent put in today. But I had time to slush along the river into the muddy meadow before we left. It wasn’t raining, but the cloud cover remains. The maple wings are bright, delightful. I took my time with pictures this morning, with appreciation, with listening to the birds singing, breathing, and appreciating every step of the morning. A beaver felled an aspen by the river and I stopped for a close look of the big bites taken out of it and found this lovely heart in the skin of the bark as if it was carved there by young lovers all except for the names.

While I was waiting for him to have his procedure, I filled our names into the picture and texted it to him. Later, to discover today that my husband needs more than a stent, and needs surgery, came as a surprise to us both. We have so much to be grateful for - finding this out now and with access to such excellent health care. Here he is, home, snoring beside me in bed, exactly where he should be.
