#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Before I walk in the woods this morning along the Charles, I remember. I have to look up the exact date, but quickly find the photos and my blog from almost one year ago, a day from a trip to Paris, the summer heat and sunshine, the sparkling Seine, the spire. . .
I return to that walk this morning, reviewing the photos I took. I was hot from my run/walk, it was so sunny and warm, and when I finally reached the Cathedral, a Parisian man, standing nearby, watching me knew what I was after.
". . . He sees that I want a picture, and he thinks I should be in it. I'm hot from this hike in the sun, and I don't feel it's a very photogenic moment for me, but his gesture is friendly and kind – he wants to complete my experience, because a morning in Paris, in front of Notre Dame, is a walk to remember." I take my walk, but I don’t take any photos this morning. Wind shakes and rattles the trees and I’m a little afraid of branches being torn from trunks above my head.
Later, I e-mail my Parisian friend my condolences. She writes back:
L'incendie de Notre-Dame représente une grande perte mais le pire n'est pas survenu, heureusement! Notre-Dame est toujours debout.
[The fire of Notre-Dame represents a great loss but the worst has not happened, fortunately! Our Lady is still standing.]
