Goldilocks and the Three Chairs

The three Adirondacks sit in the morning sun, as if enchanted, on the sand of the beach, which belongs to every one. But the empty chairs in three different sizes, belong to someone. I imagine Goldilocks, testing each, one at a time: first the Papa Bear, then the Mama Bear, then the Baby Bear chair, which is just right. I kept walking past the chairs to the surf and walked for a long time. Then I saw the fin slice the surface of the water. And another fin. I walked and watched the dolphins for a long time. This distracted me nicely from the list in my head of all the projects I’ve put on my to do list. I thought about the mailbox I found in a dune on this beach a couple of weeks ago. How did it get here? Was it planted as a joke? I want to put post cards in this mailbox. But first I must write them. The dolphins seemed to be concentrating on feeding. I watched the pelicans fishing. Later, I swam in the salty warm water too.
