#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Who knew a laptop could be homesick? Trickster.

My walk was tonight, except for the parts of the day at the airport, to the gate, to baggage; I am home now. As soon as we pulled in to the driveway, the dogs were ready to greet me, and Frank and I walked in the dark – some last threads of pink feathery clouds behind us – across the meadow toward the river. An owl hooted and the dogs trotted into the darkness, drank deep from the Charles. The arch is standing. With the flashlight we crunched around the trail for a short time, the leaves down, the brook full. My day started in New Mexico at 2:00 am when I drove to the Albuquerque airport for my 6 am flight with the broken laptop. Last night I had to post my blog from my cell phone, and didn’t end up writing, just sharing my pictures. Yesterday, after I was on Zoom helping my IWWG colleague lead her writing seminar (from Geneva!) my laptop slipped from my chair onto the carpeted floor. No big deal, I thought. But then it wouldn’t turn back on. So, I charged it. No luck. Black screen. No access fo my poems. I didn’t panic. I just accepted, Trickster was at it again. Locking me out after all that hard work. On my phone I scheduled an appointment with Apple once back to Boston, and that’s where I went after my daughter picked me up from the airport. Then, Frank met me at Apple. We checked in for the Genius Bar after hugging and kissing. I felt so happy to be home! I opened the computer, screen still black. I pushed the power button. Nothing. We waited for our consultant. Frank opened the computer, pressed the button. It turned right on!
