Out early into the cold, gliding over the glassy ice of the wetlands, I am filled with inspiration from yesterday’s walk and last night’s writing about it here. The pine cones feeding the squirrels and woodpeckers are everywhere, and my walking - writing about it - feeds me here. The ice offers new landscape to cover - the frozen wetlands, window to the life below, land I cannot cross until it freezes like this. It’s noisy, the ice quakes and bellows and cracks in other places - it’s NOT deep, there isn’t risk. Falling through would only be up to my knees, and there are downed and broken branches and, here, a beaver, a beaver family, perhaps, is building. Are they inside? Today, my energy surged. The sun was shining outside and inside me too. Every person I came into contact with today (mostly online in the digital world of e-mail and social media and Zoom webinars (two!) I supported, and that is leaving me a very lovely feeling tonight. Positive energy, gratitude, works like that. You give it to keep it.
