#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Footbridge

It was a spectacular downpour. I left Suzi at home, I knew she would not enjoy the soaking Charlie and I were in for. I drove up the road to Medfield State Hospital to walk there and beyond. It was warm, so even though the rain quickly soaked through my jacket I didn't mind. We sloshed along and through the grass puddles along the trails having a delicious bath in the meadows and woods. Bright yellow tansy is in bloom right now. By the time we neared the end of the walk the rainstorm had stopped, the river became like glass. It was a writing day most of the day: just dive in and focus. Don't self-distract. Answers will come. Put words on the page. I wrote a good draft of a prose piece for my monthly newsletter and then revised a very rough draft of a poem I started while on the Vineyard. It felt like a day when self-discipline paid off. The poem needs a lot of work. But there's a jewel there, I feel it, hidden, but present.
