#NewThis Day Writing From My Photo Stream

Wildflower Entwined

Last winter I saw figures in ice; I've seen figures in tree bark in all seasons; now, on these summer walks on Martha's Vineyard, I'm seeing figures in beach stones.

This morning, after noticing the flower entwining vine and the newly sprouted milkweed pod, before passing the wild raspberries and after capturing the serene blue view of Vineyard Sound, I saw another female figure in rock to add to my collection on this blog.

What do all these found figures represent, why am I seeing them, photographing them, and sharing them here?

These figures are nature's "found art." I hope to write from them, ekphrastically, to let them speak, and explore what they might mean on a deeper level.

A gradual realization for me, as I've engaged with this daily writing process, is that I want to use this blog as a kind of scaffolding for a writing project I'll begin soon.

On August 23, in just over three weeks, I'll celebrate the one year anniversary of keeping this daily photo and writing blog. An entire year, in words and photos, of my daily walks in nature.

I'm trying to keep this next phase unplanned: I want to trust my instinct, my intuition, my creative process. I want to wake up on August 23 and consider this year of writing and pictures. I want to feel what I feel and see what I see, and know what I know.
