Wild Viburnum in the Sunny Swamp

The sun has come out for these late days of June. The daisy fleabane is in bloom wherever it pleases. A touch of purple in my day is cheering - I find some peeping, among green blades of grass, here and there crossing the meadow. There's a wild rose bush I pass on the wooded trail that has been in bloom, it has one final bud to open, and beneath it, onto the leaf clutter, the blooms that have gone before have dropped their pale pink petals. And the star of the day is the viburnum spreading and clambering over the cattailed swamp with the blue sky behind on this sunny summer morning. There are so few days left of June, now that summer is officially here. This one is a colorful, cheerful spectacle, and I'm savoring it.
