Wild Geranium After Rain

A common flower thriving in woods, blooming in May, this wild little geranium, known by a derogatory nickname: old maid's nightcap.

Such an ugly myth. There's no such thing as an old maid – never has been.

I would wear this purple geranium like a cap every night to bed. And wake up, gently, on the forest floor, rained upon, smelling of fresh pine, hearing the barred owl's call and the trot of happy dogs running by me on the path.
