Today is a party day

I will wear the dress

on display in the brook

of this morning's ice

Once I was a girl

she measured me

waist first, and after

let me point, a picture

from Simplicity, see how

a pattern asks for fabric

wants ribbon, needs a bobbin

She only chose the color –

which spool for thread –

of every dress's hem

she sewed by hand
