#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
The weather report is foreboding. I question the wisdom of going out. But I go anyway, as always. Extra layers, a warmer hat and gloves, and I am gliding over the powder to the river in comfort. This is the first day the river is frozen solid all the way across. I am wise not to stop for pictures - just one, and I quickly ski on. Because I can't stand still in this cold and remove my thick gloves. Suzi and Charlie don't mind the temperature; it's dry and bright and they want what I want, this fresh air, this awakening of senses, this freedom to move and to smell and push on and feel welcome under the quiet trees.
