I don't notice the cold today in the woods because I am busy noticing tree bark on a broken red pine, fallen across my path, so bright and interesting, and frost dusting the tops of buttonbush and berries at the edge of the river and a branch on the ground beside the brook delicately draped in frosted leaves.
