Charles River Trestle Bridge: Two Views
As soon as I stepped out doors it started to rain. And then it rained hard. It kept raining, but lighter, then stopped. And then it poured.
While I walked by the river, the woods, over the trestle, down the tracks, into the meadow, I listened to a remarkable podcast I downloaded spontaneously from the New Yorker Poetry podcast. Appropriately, it happened to be this:
Stephen Mitchell Reads Richard Wilbur
Mitchell reads and discusses Richard Wilbur’s poem "Two Voices in a Meadow," and his own translation of “The Death of Argos,” from Homer’s Odyssey. With Paul Muldoon, August 16, 2017.
When I returned my husband asked me how was your walk. O beautiful, I cried. Even in the rain, he asked. Yes, because it rained.
