Early, toward blue black river sky

Paintbrush trees point and dip

Hills of clouds hold the river still

A smudge of pink blots cool blue

a sun is a slice, a yellow cut of now

a path is lit, where milkweed birds 

wake up meadow's edge

emptying, your mind shimmers

with clean - seedless as a husk
